ID Checks Start Monday: Be Sure to Wear Yours!

  • admin

    Dear Parents,

Last week, our students and staff enjoyed a fantastic spirit week, with lunchtime activities, dress up days, and Friday assemblies. Every student also spent an important 40 minutes in the auditorium, learning about our goals and priorities for the coming year. Feel free to check out the presentation slides we shared with students by clicking here.

In addition to emphasizing the role each of us must play in promoting Centennial's values of Honor, Integrity, and Excellence, we discussed important policies and safety practices, including Peoria Unified's dress code and campus ID badges. You can review our district's dress code and ID policies by reviewing Pages 38 and 35 of the Student Handbook, respectively.

Beginning Monday, we're asking that teachers require students to wear their ID's or send them to the bookstore to purchase a replacement. We have already worked with Lifetouch to print a free backup ID for every student who received their ID on Picture Day a few weeks ago. Students who lose their first and backup ID will be required to purchase a replacement. Please encourage your Coyote to wear their ID in order to promote safety at Centennial. Finally, speaking of safety, you'll notice below that we plan to hold a campuswide Lockdown Drill on Thursday morning. When we hold these drills, we'll be certain to send text alerts to our families.

As we look ahead to the coming week, Fall Sports will begin! You can visit the AIA website to find schedules for all of our teams. This week, Centennial's boys and girls golf teams will host their first tournaments, Badminton will host its first home match, and Football and Volleyball will complete their scrimmages. We're excited for fall sports and hope to see you at a game this season! We also hope to see you on Monday at Meet the Teacher Night. Have a great week, and thanks for your support and partnership.

    Mr. Hollabaugh
    Principal

Around Centennial's Classrooms

  • coop cpr training

Centennial is home to a daycare, known as COOP, which functions as a learning lab for students who advance through the Child Development courses. Last week, students learned valuable CPR and first aid for adults, children, and infants. American Emergency Response came to CeHS on Tuesday, August 16th and provided hands-on training in the administration of chest compressions, using a defibrillator, and many more life-saving techniques.

    Dr Scott

After studying "The Prologue" from Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, students in Dr. Scott's classes created posters of the characters and developed claims, evidence, and reasoning to show how the author satirized 14th Century English society.
