The purpose of the American Sign Language Club is to teach students the basics of sign language and its origin. The ASL club will provide an educational experience that promotes personal growth through a silent culture and language.
Band
Sponsor: Mr. Salcido This club is organized to promote the program of the IHS band. Membership is limited to those students enrolled in one of the school’s scheduled band classes.
Choir*
Sponsor: Mr. Hutter The Choir Club is organized to promote the choir program at IHS. Choir Club consists of all students enrolled in choir, and is also open to any non-choir students wishing to sing in the Ironmen or Ea-Gals.
Club Clay
Sponsor: Ms. Kuniski Students will participate in the District’s “Empty Bowl” fundraiser. Must be currently enrolled/have previously taken ceramics class at Ironwood HS.
Dance
Sponsors: Mrs. Lanning Dancers audition to choreograph and perform in dances. These are in addition to the regular dance classes. Students must be enrolled in Dance Class.
Drama Club/Thespians*
Sponsor: Mr. Akers The Drama Club sponsors and produces the theatrical shows at IHS. The club encourages students to attain better mastery of the theatre arts. The Thespian Society is all about honoring student achievement in theatre.
FBLA*
Sponsor: Mrs. Turner Future Business Leaders of America is a local, state, and national organization open to all students interested in business and computers.
Fishing Club*
Sponsor: Mr. Balogh The Fishing Club's purpose is to communicate and promote responsible fishing practices with fellow fishing enthusiasts at Ironwood High School.
French Honor Society
Sponsor: Mr. Gainey The club’s aim is to stimulate interest in the study of French and to promote higher standards of scholarship.
HOSA*
Sponsor: Mr. Suman and Ms. Gonzalez Health Occupations Students of America is for all students interested in the health care field. Students are involved in community service projects and medical related competitions.
Key Club*
Sponsor: Ms. Zint This club is open to any student interested in volunteering in a variety of activities, including working at the Westside Food Bank, visiting nursing homes, and participating in food drives and community clean-up projects.
Media Club*
Sponsor: Mr. Kwant This club is available to all students who are interested in Media Technology and Television production.
The Nest*
Sponsor: Mr. Augustine The NEST is a student sponsored club which strives to impact the IHS community by creating energetic and enthusiastic environments at home athletic events.
Photo
Sponsor: Mr. Newton The purpose is to create more interest and understanding of photography, its history, and production. Students help with the presentation of photo work and organize an art show.
Spanish Honor Society
Sponsors: Mrs. Pena This club recognizes high achievement of students continuing their study of Spanish and promotes student interest in school and community, with an emphasis on Spanish culture. (Open to students who are currently enrolled in or have taken Spanish III or above.)
Student Council
Sponsor: Ms. Wilson The Student Council plans activities for the entire student body. All members must be elected to a Student Council position.
Wrestlerettes*
Sponsors: Mr. Flanigan, Ms. Lupro, and Ms. Porter Wrestlerettes assist with the scoring and timing at the wrestling meets. They help increase enthusiasm and spirit among the wrestlers and their fans.
Art Club
Sponsor: Ms. Garvey The Art club is designed to encourage leadership in the visual arts through activities that expose students to the arts. Must be enrolled in art.
Chess Club*
Sponsor: Mr. Kirilenko The Chess Club is organized to teach the game and increase student playing ability.
Christian Club on Campus*
Sponsor: Mr. Shannon This club is open to all students. It focuses on worship, prayer, and Bible study.
Culinary Club
Sponsor: Mr. Langenbach Culinary Club prepares and sells goods at Ironwood as a part of SkillsUSA. Must be Culinary Students and must obtain a food handler's card.
D.E.C.A.*
Sponsor: Mr.Smith and Mrs. Tejada DECA is an organization whose program of leadership, personal development, and career exploration is designed for students enrolled in marketing education or thinking about a career in business.
Educators Rising*
Sponsor: Ms. Chambers Educators Rising is a national student organization dedicated to supporting young people interested in education-related careers.
Film Club*
Sponsor: Mr. Schwartz The Ironwood Film Club is dedicated to viewing and discussing films of all genres. Be ready to watch and discuss. Be ready to expand your mind. Most of all, be ready to enjoy Film Club.
Flagline
Sponsor: Mr. Salcido Flagline choreographs routines to enhance the music of the marching band. They participate in competitions, parades, and assemblies. Audition is Required.
GSA*
Sponsors: Ms. Porter The Gay Straight Alliance club’s purpose is to encourage acceptance and build understanding.
IB Club
Sponsor: Mr. Curtis This club provides activities and gives support and encouragement to all IB students, 9th – 12th grades.
Law Enforcement CTSO
Sponsors: Mr.Beck This club is for active members of Law I or Law II classes.
National Honor Society
Sponsors: Ms. Schiff and Mr. Brown Grades 10, 11,12 – must petition – 3.7 CRI. The purpose is to promote leadership, scholarship, character, and service to the school and the community.
Newspaper
Sponsor: Mr. Robinson The purpose of this club is to promote communication of newsworthy events and activities for the IHS community.
Skills USA*
Sponsors: Mr. Carreon and Mr. Balogh SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.
Speech and Debate*
Sponsor: Mr. Schwartz Speech and Debate Club is organized to combine social activities with academic excellence. This club’s objective is to help students develop skills and confidence in the areas of public speaking, research, and debate.
Yearbook
Sponsor: Ms. Farrell The purpose of this club is to promote the historical record of the year, create a book of memories for the students, and produce a source of reference for IHS.
