    sr sunrise

Senior Sunrise was a great success!  Thank you to Student Council and all of the staff members who came out to support our seniors as they kick off their final year of high school. The seniors had donuts and coffee, listened to music, took pictures and generally had a great start to the day!

    coping station

Ms. Beck's students began their Introduction to Psychology unit with a couple of lessons on mental health and well-being. Students learned about common stressors and how to understand, cope with, and minimize them. After a couple of days of key vocabulary and a mental health awareness project, the week culminated with an anti-stress day. The goal was for students to "sample" a few different coping mechanisms that have proven to be successful for many people. Students traveled in groups and spent ten minutes at 7 different stations, each one containing instructions, an article to read about the benefits of a coping mechanism, and the actual mechanism to try out. Ms. Beck's classes learned about manipulatives (fidgets, play-doh, sensory items), aromatherapy, coloring, workbooks and puzzles, journaling, brown noise/meditation, and taking a nature walk. Students reported that they walked away with new interests and ideas on how to help them manage stressors in their lives! Healthy mind=healthy life!
