Scholarship Search Engines
-
The Career Center has created a list of search engines for students to find scholarships. Also, think about clubs and jobs that both students and parents belong to and find out if they offer scholarships to their members. Some websites will add you to an email list where they send scholarships directly to you, on other sites you share your information and they send scholarships that apply to you. No matter what search engine or website you use, it's simply the more you apply for, the more you can be awarded.
Tips:
- Check Deadlines & Guidelines
- Answer what the question asks. It's easy to get into a copy/ paste rhythm of answers when filling out personal statements, but make sure you answer what is asked.
- This is the time to BRAG. Include leadership, volunteerism, and share what makes you special. Don't apologize for the past, mention what you've overcome, and focus on what you want for your future.
- FOLLOW UP- If there is a place that you can reach out by phone or email, do it. Build relationships, be patient, copy everything, and keep organized records.
- Would you like an appointment to discuss scholarships? Reach out to GCC Financial Aid at 480-731-8900 or College Depot at 602-261-8847.
- Review AZ Merit Scholarships by institution, amounts, and required GPA. You do not need to apply for Merit based Scholarships, they are automatically awarded by institutions.
Check out MECCA, College Ready AZ, Be A Leader Foundation Slide Deck for College Resources & Scholarship information.
PSAT- Will be Proctored at Ironwood 10/10/24. The PSAT is the required test to be taken in your Junior Year to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
FAFSA- Federal Applications for Federal Student Aid Application opens in December for the following Fall semester. This is the first stop when starting the scholarship process. This will let you know if you are awarded federal Scholarships, Pell Grant, Loans, and/or Work study. Also, colleges, universities, and some scholarships will ask about your FAFSA before awarding funds or programs.
