  • Our Mission

    The Peoria Unified School District serves children from varying countries with over 80 home languages. Our mission is to provide instruction that promotes high academic success and gives English Language Learner (ELL) students the opportunity to meet Arizona’s Academic Standards.

     

    Program Goals

    Provide students with instruction that will enable them to increase academic achievement and use English language skills to meet district and state learning standards.

    Provide instruction so that students acquire social and academic English language proficiency. Ensure placement in appropriate instructional programs such as Gifted Education and Special Education and promote participation in school activities such as performing arts, student government, and athletics.

    Work cooperatively with families and community agencies in meeting the social, physical, and emotional needs of students.
    Promote cross-cultural understanding and acceptance of diversity. Meet national and state program requirements for identification, assessment, program services, and reassessment. (Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and Arizona Revised Statutes, §15-751 - §15-756 English Language Education of Children in Public Schools).
