When: 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 15Glendale, Ariz.- The Peoria Unified School District is hosting a Virtual Teacher Job Fair at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15. Peoria Unified is inviting passionate educators to attend the Teacher Job Fair and learn how Peoria Unified will support them in their career.
Peoria Unified is home to educators like Alicia Barraza from Cheyenne Elementary School who has worked in Peoria Unified since 2019 and is known for her exceptional dedication to students and innovative teaching methods. Why did Alicia choose Peoria Unified? Her students. “Building long-lasting connections with my students has been my why, and will continue to be my why. Creating a sense of community through Cheyenne and being a part of this community is my reason for being an educator.”
Peoria Unified provides teachers with a unique support system as they begin their careers in the district and all throughout their teaching journey. All new teachers in Peoria Unified experience New Teacher Orientation and coaching from expert curriculum and instructional coaches. These coaches provide ongoing professional development for teachers throughout the school year.
During the Virtual Teacher Job Fair, individuals will hear from district leaders, teachers and parents about why they continue to choose Peoria Unified. A panel discussion featuring an instructional coach and new teacher will also be held during the online event. Participants will be introduced to the district’s Chief Personnel Officer, Mrs. Laura Vesley and Chief Academic Support Officer, Dr. Teresa Hernandez, as they spotlight what makes Peoria Unified the premier choice for education professionals.
Peoria Unified is proud to provide innovative support strategies, award-winning wellness programs and competitive compensation. On Thursday, April 25, the Governing Board unanimously approved a compensation increase for the 2024-25 school year that includes a two percent increase to the base pay of all employee groups. Additionally, the Board voted to approve an increase in the initial placement schedule to begin at $51,000 for certified employees hired after July 1, 2024.
