PEORIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT LAUNCHES ALUMNI NETWORK
-
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Peoria Unified School District announces the launch of an Alumni Network, a strategic initiative designed to foster stronger connections between alumni to enhance community engagement and awareness.
The Peoria Unified Alumni Network will offer a range of benefits and opportunities for alumni, including networking, mentorship and volunteer opportunities, and exclusive access to district updates. Alumni are encouraged to register for the Alumni Network to stay connected and engaged with Peoria Unified and their fellow graduates by visiting www.peoriaunified.org/alumni.
Once Peoria Unified students leave the district, they succeed in many ways. Peoria Unified’s Chief Communications Officer, Danielle Airey, graduated from Cactus High School in 2000. During her professional public relations career, Airey spearheaded Peoria Unified’s focus on community connectedness and recognized a need to reengage the district’s graduates. Airey joined the communications team in 2010 and quickly built trust by navigating crisis situations with transparency and finesse. Airey was recently named a finalist for the National School Communicator of the Year Award by the National School Public Relations Association.
Airey is just one of many incredible alumni of the Peoria Unified School District. Through the Alumni Network, Peoria Unified seeks to connect with many others to celebrate alumni achievements and provide opportunities for them to reinvest in their community.
Dr. K.C. Somers, incoming superintendent of the Peoria Unified School District, commented, "Our alumni are a vital part of the Peoria Unified family, and we recognize the immense value they bring to our community. The launch of the Peoria Unified Alumni Network underscores our commitment to nurturing lifelong relationships with our graduates."
As part of Peoria Unified’s overarching Strategic Plan, the Peoria Unified communications team identified a critical need to expand connections with key stakeholder groups, particularly graduates of the district. The launch of the Alumni Network will provide an avenue where former students can stay connected in the community long after they graduate, and it will allow the district to maintain a connection with former students once they leave the district.
Serving more than 35,000 students in 43 unique public schools across the northwest valley, the Peoria Unified School District educates tomorrow's leaders. For the past 130 years, Peoria Unified has been an Arizona public school district of choice, where students can receive a high-quality education rooted in the values that their families share. Peoria Unified meets the needs of all pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students through its variety of programs including S.T.E.A.M., arts education, special education, gifted education, career and technical education, athletics and more. To continue its long history of success, the district maintains its focus on four key components of its strategic plan: Student Success, Safety and Well-Being, Stewardship of Community Resources and Community Connection.
